We received the following request from colleagues in Afghanistan Country office. It is especially targeted to former Representatives. I suspect if those who served in other posts also have a few interesting or striking photos / stories this would seem a good time to share with the office and/or for posting to this site.
Dear UNICEF colleagues for life,
As many of you will know, UNICEF is marking its 70th anniversary this year and we are planning a few activities of our own in Afghanistan, at country level.
Our current Representative, Ms. Adele Khodr, had the idea of compiling materials, photos, memories, and quotes from all former Representatives to feature in the office through different platforms – and perhaps to share a few externally on various digital channels, too (details TBC).
If you would like to be included in this initiative, I am reaching out to kindly ask you to send us:
- 2-3 photos taken during your time in Afghanistan: your favourite or one that really encapsulates your experience here;
- A few lines (no more than what we would need for a quote) about what your time here meant to you, or what you feel was a significant achievement, or simply a beautiful or funny memory – or absolutely anything that would like to share!
- Kindly also confirm the month/year you arrived and departed.
We hope many of you will decide to share your thoughts and memories with us and we look forward to hearing from you.
With kind regards,
Nicole E. Foster
